I found this rabbit skull at Rosyth Castle, and the scallop shell toward the end of my trip. Scallop shells were often picked up as souvenirs by those who did The Camino pilgrimage in Spain. Over time, the shell became s symbol of pilgrimage across the world. Rabbits are symbols of luck, creativity, and new beginnings. Using eyes and pauldrons as inspiration for the shape of this piece, it is both protective, and curious. The knotwork pattern is based on a design carved into a viking casket in Govan.
